Workshop Concept for Advisory Board Meeting is finalised! Fourth Project Meeting
The Pathfinder project aims to set out a roadmap to increase knowledge and awareness of, and determine the future use and impact of, simulation and forecasting technologies in manufacturing. The first Pathfinder meeting in 2014 resulted in the approval of further Pathfinder road mapping activities. The agenda included important decisions regarding future public appearances, which were agreed upon by the Pathfinder consortium.
A workshop on 6th March with the Pathfinder Advisory Board will be one of the springboards to take the Pathfinder research project forward. The advisory board is composed of high-level experts both from industry and research in the field of simulation and forecasting technologies. The workshop will focus on design, simulation, analytics and forecasting for factories of the future, cover the gaps, challenges and key trends, and define future research priorities. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to provide their own input on key trends for influencing these research priorities. A global overview of Pathfinder has been produced and checked by all project partners for use as a reference at the workshop. This will provide a summary of the achievements of the Pathfinder project and the experts involved.
From trends, current road-mapping activities and national programs, the Pathfinder vision has been developed to be consistent with current road-mapping efforts at national and international level. From this vision, the current trends and future state of simulation and forecasting technologies have been derived. By confronting the envisioned future state with the current method of practice, the road-mapping activity has defined the related gaps. These can be considered as the missing link between what is currently available and possible future manufacturing scenarios. Identifying gaps is a key requirement for establishing the challenges faced in innovating simulation and forecasting technologies. These challenges will be addressed by defining the research priorities within the Pathfinder workshop in March.
