The Monitoring and Controlling of Production System in the Digital Era

Initiative Description

The course is structured to give an overview of production management and monitoring with the help of modern technologies. The Internet of Things is certainly one of these, in fact, thanks to the availability of low-cost sensors and devices to detect real-time data from the field, it is possible to create a flow of information thanks to which production can be efficiently programmed, to increase flexibility and to reduce time to market. The correct planning of production in the short term allows a significant containment of costs, a just-in-time supply by logistics and it improves performances in terms of compliance with the date of delivery to the customer, allowing to schedule maintenance operations on plants . Moreover, this interconnection between machines within the production process also makes it possible to detect performances and evaluate KPIs in order to be able to effectively identify inefficiency causes and put in place corrective actions.
