Initiative Description

The MEI proposes four areas of specialization: (i) Communications, Services and Infrastructures, (ii) Intelligent Systems, (iii) information systems, and (iv) Software Engineering

Training Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge on the operation of TCP/IP computer networks. The course uses a practical approach, using the most common operating systems (Linux, Apple Mac OSX, Microsoft Windows). Nevertheless, strong theoretical background is provided along with the practical subject matters, on topics such as equipment configuration, traffic analysis, and troubleshooting of TCP/IP local area networks (LAN). The course only resorts to open source tools available on the mentioned operating systems.
