Successful Kick-Off of the Pathfinder CSA Project
At the project kick-off, the consortium members discussed a detailed roadmap structure and decided on the first steps towards the roadmap building process. The Pathfinder Roadmap will be a clear extension and supplement of past and present roadmaps – comprising not only, challenges and opportunities within the European manufacturing industry, but also technological needs and enablers.
Project coordinator Paolo Pedrazzoli stressed the importance of involving experts from industry and educational institutes. These experts will form an Advisory Board, supporting the Pathfinder consortium to ensure alignment with the future needs of the manufacturing industry in the area of simulation and forecasting.
Pathfinder as part of the project I4MS-Gate
Pathfinder will join the project I4MS-Gate, a project funded by the new initiative I4MS (ICT for Manufacturing SMEs). The European Commission is contributing €77 million from its 7th R&D Framework Programme (FP7) to this innovation initiative for the manufacturing sector designed to enable high-tech SMEs exploit the potential of ICT to help grow their businesses. I4MS-Gate will deliver the reference European portal on ICT Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs (www.i4ms.eu) and aims at amplifying the findings of the road-mapping activities of Pathfinder and other projects.
