Successful INTEFIX dissemination activity at the Metav Düsseldorf trade show
During the METAV Düsseldorf trade show, 600 companies presented their latest products, solutions and services to customers and other stakeholders from all around the world. All in all, METAV attracted more than 31,400 visitors from industry, academia and other fields. Visitors also had the chance to participate in programmes on innovative topics and visit research and innovation booths during the exhibition.
CECIMO organized a project booth to disseminate the concept and the goals of the INTEFIX project. The project, partly funded by the European Commission’s FP7 programme, aims to increase the performance of machining processes by the use of intelligent fixture systems. These systems allow monitoring, control and adaptation of the process to obtain suitable results in terms of precision, quality and cost requirements. Upon its finalization in 2016, the project’s main outcome will be the integration of new and state-of-the-art technologies (sensors, actuators, control algorithms and simulation tools) applied to the work piece handling systems to develop intelligent and modular fixtures.
Filip Geerts, Director General at CECIMO says “The European machine tool industry is a knowledge-driven sector and R&D is one of the main pillars underpinning the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector. The technology developed by the INTEFIX project will help our companies increase their capacity of offering smarter and more flexible solutions for rapidly changing customer demands.” The INTEFIX project is coordinated by IK4-Tekniker (Spain) and brings together 22 partners across Europe.
