HORSE-Consultation Workshop with SMEs
Smart integrated Robotics system for SMEs controlled by Internet of Things based on dynamic manufacturing processes
Why don’t Small and Medium-Sized enterprises (SMEs) take up robotics technologies as fast as would be beneficial for them? One obstacle among others is, that there is still not enough robotics technology available which allows changing a production set-up swift and cost-efficient. The EU-funded project HORSE was established to overcome this obstacle. HORSE will facilitate the take-up of robotics technology in SMEs by developing technology for the future: ultraflexible, morphable and easily instructable factories for SMEs.
To learn more about the needs of the market we’ve created several occasions where you can give us feedback and find out how you can take an active role in the HORSE project.
Meet HORSE
HORSE project will participate in the European Robotics Forum 2016 in Lubljana Slovenia. HORSE organizes its own workshop on the 22nd of March, 10:45-12:15 “Opportunities and Challenges of the European Network of Competence Centers on Robotics”. In addition HORSE has been invited to present in the following workshops:
- 21st March, 8:30-10:00 -I4MS Funding Opportunities for SMEs
- 22nd March, 8:30-10:00 -Digitizing the European Industry- Robotics Innovation Hubs
- 23rd March, 10:45-12:15 – Robotics and Internet-of-Things
HORSE project will be present at the Hannovermesse (in a 40 sq.m. booth with ECHORD and ECHORD++). Material from the pilot experiments will be presented as well as initial information regarding the Phase 2 – Open Call Experiments to be launched 3Q 2017.
Networking partners activities: Workshop to be organized, in coordination with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Slovenia, on the 7th of April, for first interaction with companies regarding the HORSE framework and interest for applying to the Open Call Mechanism
Pilot cases
HORSE strongly integrates existing technology and research results. Three manufacturing companies provided pilot cases to test HORSE’s approach:
The first pilot, provided by automotive component supplier BOSCH, is dedicated to the automotive industry and will be implemented in Front Wiper Systems assembling lines which require a high degree of flexibility.
The second pilot, provided by the steel producer Odlewnie Polskie, tackles the production of iron castings within heavy weight in different configuration and use with approximately 990 different types of castings.
The third pilot, provided by the producer of telescopic slides Thomas Regout International, is geared to the manufacturing of these slides. Especially changing machines and tools between different product types and operating tasks is time-consuming and is prone to mistakes.
Open Call
The second phase of HORSE is dedicated to transferring the results of the pilot cases to further applications. New end-users will join the project via an Open Call mechanism, which addresses end-users, willing to take up and validate the results gained in the first phase. The financial support to third parties will enable them to carry out application experiments at their premises. To prepare the Call which will be launched in November 2017 and to enter into a discussion with potential SME applications, HORSE is actively seeking the input and feedback from the market.
