HKV is a Dutch SME which provides consultancy services in the fields of safety, drought and the risk of floods in rivers, coasts, estuaries and urban water systems. Forecasting of flooding, morphology, and water quality in coastal and estuarine areas, rivers, and lakes is of great importance. However, this requires computing resources which are beyond those of most SMEs. This Case Study aims to develop a service which will make such simulations available to SMEs on a pay-per-use HPC-Cloud-based basis.
