Formtech Composites is a UK SME which manufactures composites using carbon and glass fibre, aramid and other high-performance fibres. These are used, for example, in the automobile industry. The complex nature of the simulations necessary to model composites means that HPC-based simulations need to be used which are exceed the in-house capabilities of Formtech. This Case Study will demonstrate the feasibility of a pay-per-use Cloud-based-HPC for the design of such composites available to Formtech via a simple user interface.
