Master’s degree in Materials Engineering

Initiative Description

The course is structured in four main formative lines: Surface Engineering; Biomaterials; Materials processing by conventional and advanced techniques; Design and materials selection

Training Objectives

The level of technical and scientific competencies required to MIEM students in each of the two field of expertise, combined with the capacity to integrate knowledge from several areas and the development of a strong critical spirit, allow the students to be able to solve complex problems in various industrial sectors, such as: industrial goods, transport, energy, heating, ventilation, industrial plants, plastics and mold, among many others. The MIEM holders have access to the profession of engineer in industry, services and public sector. Students of MIEM have the opportunity to develop original work, in their dissertation or final project, which can be developed in academic or industrial environment, considering problems with more or less applied research. In each area of specialization of the MIEM, there are curricular units with a strong penchant for promoting innovation, either by their syllabus or by the challenges they pose to the students.
