Road4FAME produces comprehensive analysis of publicly-funded manufacturing IT projects
The screening for relevant projects was supported by an online consultation gathering input from around thirty Road4FAME Experts Group members. The in-depth analysis of identified projects was furthermore supported by interviews with the relevant project coordinators and project stakeholders.
Among main research themes addressed by analyzed projects are integration of CP(P)S for added intelligence in production environments, implementation of the plug and produce paradigm, optimization of user interaction in manufacturing environments, exploitation of knowledge for decision-making, etc. At production network level, main themes pursued are e.g. cloud manufacturing, overall optimization of production networks, total customization, but also general topics related to organizational and strategic aspects such as migration strategies towards next generation IT systems in manufacturing, and performance assessment for such systems.
The produced overview on current research themes serves as main input for the Road4FAME Roadmap baseline and is publicly accessible. Please navigate to the resources section on the Road4FAME website or download the document here.
While the entirety of analyzed manufacturing-IT research projects can be expected to bring considerable benefits to the manufacturing domain, important spill-over effects and cross-fertilization are also expected from IT projects which do not have an explicit manufacturing orientation. Efforts will be undertaken in the Road4FAME project to assess the relevance of results from IT project in directions such as cloud technologies, cyber physical systems and the Internet of Things, Big Data, and security mechanisms.
