I4MS at Manufuture 2013
The I4MS initiative has been presented at Manufuture 2013, the 9th conference of the European Technology Platform on Future Manufacturing Technologies. From 6 to 8 October, in Vilnius (Lithuania), more than 500 delegates of companies, universities, research centers and other organisms have met to assure the future of a competitive and sustainable manufacturing in Europe. During the three days of the Conference, leaders of industry of European Union discussed about Horizon 2020, the new EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, and evaluated its predecessor, still in force, the 7th Framework Programme.
The new European initiative I4MS “ICT Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs”, launched by DG Connect, and whose initial budget is 77 million euros, had a great relevant is several talks. In their presentations, Maurizio Gattiglio, Co-Chairman of the EFFRA, and Max Lemke, Deputy Head of the Unit for “Complex Systems and Advanced Computing” of the EC, explained the importance of I4MS during the next H2020. This initiative is a pioneer in helping small and medium-sized European enterprises to exploit the potential of information technology and communication (ICT) to improve their products and manufacturing processes.
